I really appreciate the chance to write to you again, as we all step into a new year; and with this new year comes a new opportunity for Marylanders across our state and across the 26th Legislative district to have a real conversation about how we shape a future that everyone can look forward to. Today, there’s so much noise, anger, and fear in our politics. Too many aspects of public service have done little to truly serve the public. Too many neighbors who believe in the true principles of good government have been left frustrated, disappointed, and exhausted by today’s circumstances. And too many of our friends and family feel like they live in fragmented areas rather than cohesive communities.
I’m running for State Delegate to represent the 26th District because it doesn’t have to be this way.
I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to see us at our best—
In 2012 as Director of the Maryland Democratic Coordinated Campaign to re-elect President Obama, I saw Marylanders across our district stand in record number to declare that we wouldn’t go backward. During my time working for Governor Martin O’Malley and Lt. Governor Anthony Brown, I saw first-hand the service that can be done for real people when good government and smart policy are truly matched. And as Maryland Director of No Kid Hungry, I worked with thousands of neighbors who share a pure & unmeasurable love for our children and who—everyday—fiercely work to provide meals to hundreds of thousands of kids in need.
Our campaign believes in the power of our community. We know what we’re truly capable of: schools fully resourced for every kid in our district; healthcare that can meet the needs of every family and every senior; development that seeks not to displace but enrich; a bond between residents and law enforcement that ensures everyone’s safety; a region that invests in every community, not just our harbor; and a community that no longer feels like isolated streets and blocks, but unified neighborhoods that are engaged, empowered, and able to shape a future we can all look forward to.
There are 177 days for our campaign to make that very important case. I hope you’ll join us.
