Education Policy

I know that–like me–you’ve been following the heartbreaking school shootings in communities ranging from Parkland, FL to right here in Great Mills. In the face of these tragedies, it has been amazing to watch young people of all ages stand up and articulate the importance of equality and inclusion without fear or doubt.
We can support their movement by investing in every young person and ensuring they all realize their full potential. While serving as Maryland Director of Share Our Strength’s “No Kid Hungry” initiative, I saw firsthand how many children in our county and across the state are still lacking the support they need to succeed.
Just last week, No Kid Hungry Maryland successfully expanded funding for Maryland Meals for Achievement, a nationally recognized breakfast program that reaches hundreds of thousands of kids in District 26 and across the state. We must continue to double down on funding and supportive services in our public education system and ensure that we’re attracting and retaining the best teachers.
I’ll fight for every school construction dollar to create world-class learning environments, deliver grants to improve training and incentives for our teachers and promote wrap-around services. Read more about my goals for education policy, and join me in fighting for the next generation.
